RMXP has Essentials, which is a full Pokemon fangame kit, so RPG Maker is quite capable of creating these types of games.Īs I mentioned, though, I want to create something that is my intellectual property, and that means no Pokemon Essentials, and probably no RMXP, because RMXP is only really good for creating monster collection games with the Essentials add-ons. While I wont say anything more about the legality of the issue or whether you should even put time into making a fangame, I can say that there is a huge community of Pokemon fan game developers all over the internet. After doing some light research, I think RPG Maker is the way to go. ![]() I keep mentioning Pokemon because it's the most popular monster collecting game that I'm familiar with, but I'm interested in creating an original monster collecting game in the genre that I can maybe sell or offer for download to promote some of my other stuff.
